Stand Your Ground
Jesus came to the earth to set the captives free. He came to bring freedom for all enslaved by sickness, disease, hopelessness, depression, and sin. He came to free all trapped in depression, anxiety, and despair. This isn’t something He is thinking about doing but has already done. You don’t know it yet. The devil doesn’t want you ever to know it because he wants to keep you enslaved. You have to know it and believe it. Stand your ground and believe and keep believing.
Freedom for Israel
Egypt had enslaved Israel for over 400 years. Hearing the cries of the people, God came to set them free. God dealt harshly with Egypt until Pharaoh, ruler of Egypt, agreed to let God’s people go. God chose Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt along with their flocks, herds, and belongings. The Bible says Israel numbered 600,000 men, not including women and children.
God lead Moses and the people to the Red Sea, where they set up camp for the night. Meanwhile, Pharaoh, now furious with himself and Moses, changed his mind and, with his army, pursued the people of Israel on horseback and with chariots.
When the people saw the army advancing toward them, they cried out in great fear to the Lord, for they were trapped between the Red Sea and the army. Moses tells the people of Israel, “Do not fear! Stand your ground and see the victory the Lord will win for you today.” They were about to experience one of the most exciting supernatural events in history, the parting of the Red Sea.
Exodus 14:13-14 But Moses answered the people, “Do not fear! Stand your ground and see the victory the Lord will win for you today. For these Egyptians whom you see today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you have only to keep still.”
How long have you been sick?
HOW LONG have you been sick? How long have you been waiting for your rescue? God is saying the same thing to you that He said to the Israelites. “Do not fear! Stand your ground and see the victory the Lord will win for you today.” Slavery is over. You are no longer a slave to sickness and symptoms. You have been set free.
Moses told the people to stand their ground. Moses did not want the people to back down no matter what they saw or heard. Stand your ground means to believe that God’s rescue is on its way. Believe and keep believing, and do not let anything change your mind.
HOW DO YOU STAND YOUR GROUND
How do you stand your ground? What do you do, or what does it look like? You stand by resting, waiting, trusting, and believing God wants only good things for you and is fighting on your behalf, and He expects you to believe it.
Have you stood in faith or in fear? Are you waiting in anticipation or in resignation? Have you stood your ground in the good times and in the bad? Are you still standing your ground in the face of bad news, extreme reports, or a depressing diagnosis? Have you stood your ground all the way to victory? If not, you have not stood long enough. There is always victory for you. Always. God only brings us through to victory. That is all He has in mind for you. Believe and rest assured, victory is yours.
Jeremiah 29:11* For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for woe, plans to give you a future full of hope.*
Don’t give up!
As soon as Pharaoh let the people go, he changed his mind and had his army pursue them right up to the Red Sea. With the sea in front of them and Pharaoh’s army closing in behind them, the people panicked. This is when God moved.
During the night, God separated the people of Israel from the advancing Egyptian army with a pillar of fire. Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove back the sea with a strong wind that lasted all night long. The Lord turned the sea into dry land with a wall of water to the left and a wall of water to the right. Moses led the people into the Red Sea, and they followed.
In Exodus, chapter 14, God promised the Israelites they would never see the Egyptians again. God closed the sea over the pursing Egyptians, and the Israelites never had to fear Egypt again. God is saying the same thing to you, me, and all of God’s children: “Do not fear, stand your ground; don’t quit now, don’t quit believing in the miracle. I am about to open up the sea.” Stand your ground and see the victory the Lord will win for you today.
Solid ground or shaky ground?
The devil is out to steal the ground right from underneath you. The devil wants to derail your faith. When you are standing on your faith or trust that Christ is your rescue, you are on solid ground. The devil is always on shaky ground; that is where he wants you. He is always out to move you off of faith, off of your solid ground, and onto shaky ground by sending symptoms and fear your way to get you to move. He wants to keep you doubting and always wondering as you move away from hope and trust. Shaky ground is doubt.
The devil knows that at any moment, you will hear the truth and believe it, and then he will lose his influence on you. Once you know the truth, you are on solid ground! It is knowing the truth that gives you peace and security. What is the truth? The truth is Jesus loves you, died for you, healed you, and wants you to live a long, rich, and abundant life.
Pain wants your attention.
The devil has nothing to stand on: nothing secure, real, or true. No matter what symptoms you are experiencing, physical, mental, emotional, or financial, they are standing on shaky ground, and they know it, and they are screaming for your attention.
The pain is screaming for your attention. It wants your full attention so it can keep harassing you, causing you to doubt that you will ever get well. The symptoms want to be heard, received and noticed. They want credence. They want to take the place of faith. Symptoms wish to steal your faith and bring you out of God’s refuge and into a place of fear and worry.
Remain steadfast in your faith in God’s desire to see you whole, healed, and living healthy. Start speaking words of life. This will help you to rise above any situation and cling to hope. You always have a choice between hope and despair. Remind yourself daily that you have more faith in God than in your present circumstances. This will help you stand your ground, hold on to faith, and keep fear at bay.
Put your trust in God.
Trust that God is fighting for you. Don’t trust what you see or feel in the natural or physical realm. Trust in the supernatural. Just like the Israelites saw God work wonders that day, you too will see whatever you are willing to believe in. God is fighting your battle for you. Rest in that knowledge and stand your ground. HOLD THE FORT! When you trust in God, you are standing on a solid foundation. Don’t give any ground to fear.
Hang on God’s word.
Don’t let those thoughts of fear, death, or worry take hold of you and rob you of your hope, peace, and trust. Say, “HA! I am trusting in God. He has me and will not let anything happen to me.” You can say this confidently because you are hanging on to His Word, which is as good as His promise.
Psalm 91:9-10 Because you have the Lord for your refugeand have made the Most High your stronghold, No evil shall befall you, no affliction come near your tent.
