Prayer for Healing from Cancer: Standing on God's Word
Two Scripture-based prayers for anyone facing cancer — a prayer of healing and a declaration built on God's Word, drawn from Marybeth Wuenschel's books Be Healed in the Name of Jesus and the Prayer Companion.
A cancer diagnosis is frightening — but God's Word has much to say to the fearful and the sick, and His promises hold over cancer just as they hold over any other need. The prayers below are built entirely on Scripture. Pray them aloud, name your situation, and stand on what God has already said.
Healing is God's gift, and His gifts are irrevocable (Romans 11:29). You do not pray these prayers to earn healing — you pray them to receive what Jesus already won for you at the cross.
A Prayer for Healing from Cancer
Peter taught us — after healing the lame man — to call upon the name of the Lord with faith and receive. Today, we are calling on the name of Jesus for healing from cancer. Jesus is stronger than cancer, and His power is available to us. Jesus defeated sickness and rendered it ineffective and powerless. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. We are the Body of Christ. We are the children of God. Healing is the children's bread and our covenant right.
We know what belongs to us, and we will not let cancer steal our health or gain access to our bodies.
Today, I receive the healing Jesus won for me at the cross. I receive it and declare: "By His stripes I am healed." Cancer has no hold on me. I am off-limits to cancer and all disease because I am in Christ and the blood of Jesus covers me. I dwell in the shelter of the Most High and rest in His shadow. No cancer can find me there.
I cut down and cast out every cancerous cell, and I draw upon the healing power of God that dwells in me. Every cancer cell is cut off and destroyed. Every symptom is leaving my body.
Today, I wake up refreshed by the blood of the Lamb — cleansed, made whole, and healed. None of the diseases of the Egyptians are on me, God's child (Deuteronomy 7:15). So today, I am rising up from my sick bed, getting dressed, putting on my makeup (shaving my face), and seizing the day. The blessing of God is mine today and forever because I belong to Christ. Healing is God's gift to me, and His gifts are irrevocable (Romans 11:29).
Jesus died and was buried, and by the Holy Spirit He lives in me. He was raised from the dead and now sits at the right hand of power, forever interceding for me because of His great love for me.
Declare it out loud today:
Jesus is watching over me and protecting me — He cannot fail. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. The Bible says, "By His stripes I am healed," and I believe it. I will not fear. I am standing my ground, and I will see the victory the Lord has won for me. I will live and not die, and I will declare the works of the Lord to the generations that follow me.
The Lord has won this battle. He has fought and destroyed this enemy and has given the victory to me. Cancer is under my feet. I am the head and not the tail. The Word of God says the Lord will beat down every enemy that rises against me. They may come at me one way, but they will flee seven ways.
Devil, you come against me with fear, threats, and intimidation — but I come against you in the name of Jesus. I am whole, and my body is healthy. Jesus is Lord over my body.
Cancer, tumors, lesions, and every corrupt cell in my body: leave now in the name of Jesus. Body, rise up today. Live pain-free and declare the works of the Lord.
All praise to the One who sits on the throne. All glory, honor, and praise to the King of kings. Amen.
Fighting Cancer with Scripture
A shorter prayer and declaration, straight from Be Healed in the Name of Jesus.
Prayer: Please, dear Lord, come to my aid and cleanse my body of all cancer.
Declare: God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him (Acts 10:38), and He is still healing today. Cancer, you are a defeated foe because the blood of Jesus was shed for me and He took all my sins and sickness with Him on the cross for me (Matthew 8:16-17; Hebrews 2:14).
I resist and know that cancer is fleeing from me because you, Lord, scatter my enemies and cause them to be defeated (Deuteronomy 28:7).
Cancer is the enemy, and it is under my feet. I have the authority to trample on it, and it will not harm me (Luke 10:19).
Thank you, Lord, for hearing my prayer, and I stand firm on your promise that I will live and not die but proclaim the works of the Lord (Psalm 118:17).
To You, Lord Jesus, be all the glory, honor, and praise. May you be glorified in my healing, and I declare this will not be passed down to my children or my grandchildren. I am taking a stand against cancer and its attack against me, and I will see the victory because my God is fighting for me (Exodus 14:13-14).
God is with me, and I will not fear or be distressed. My faith in my God is firm and unwavering. My Lord is my rock, my strength, my fortress, and my deliverer. He is my God in whom I trust, my rock of refuge, my shield, and my stronghold (Psalm 18:3).
I believe God has better, more wonderful plans for me than suffering from cancer. I believe God has a future full of hope for me, not despair (Jeremiah 29:11).
Praying These Prayers Well
- Pray them aloud. Faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17) — speaking God's Word builds faith the way food builds the body.
- Pair them with Scripture. One passage a day from our Healing Scriptures grounds each prayer in God's own promises.
- Don't pray alone. Bring your intention to the daily prayer call — this ministry exists so that no one prays through illness by themselves.
