Healing Scriptures: Bible Verses on God's Will to Heal

A reference collection of healing Scriptures from the Old and New Testaments — organized by theme, ready to pray, with a free printable PDF.

Scripture speaks about healing from beginning to end — God revealing Himself as healer, Jesus healing everyone who came to Him, and the early Church praying for the sick with expectation. This page gathers those passages in one place, organized by theme, so they are easy to find, easy to pray, and easy to return to daily.

Verse quotations below are from the World English Bible (public domain). Look each passage up in your own Bible and let it speak fully in context.

God Reveals Himself as Healer

  • Exodus 15:26 — "I am the LORD who heals you."
  • Psalm 103:2-3 — "Praise the LORD, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases."
  • Psalm 107:20 — "He sends his word and heals them, and delivers them from their graves."
  • Psalm 147:3 — "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."
  • Jeremiah 30:17 — "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the LORD."
  • Malachi 4:2 — "But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings."

Jesus Heals in the Gospels

  • Matthew 4:23 — Jesus went about "healing every disease and every sickness among the people."
  • Matthew 8:16-17 — He "healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.'"
  • Matthew 9:35 — Jesus went about all the cities and villages "healing every disease and every sickness."
  • Mark 5:34 — "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be cured of your disease."
  • Luke 6:19 — "All the multitude sought to touch him, for power came out of him and healed them all."
  • Acts 10:38 — Jesus "went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him."

Healing Promised and Proclaimed

  • Isaiah 53:5 — "By his wounds we are healed."
  • 1 Peter 2:24 — "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree... by whose stripes you were healed."
  • Proverbs 4:20-22 — "My son, attend to my words... for they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body."
  • James 5:14-15 — "Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him... and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick."
  • 3 John 1:2 — "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers."

How to Use These Scriptures

Read them aloud. Pray them daily. Write out the ones that speak to your situation and keep them where you will see them. Scripture is not a lucky charm — it is God's living word, and praying it builds faith the way food builds the body.

For teaching on what these passages mean and how to stand on them, Marybeth walks through them in her own words in God's Word on Healing, God Wants You Healed, and Jesus Healed Them All.
